In April 2024, we opened the Love Does primary and secondary school at the largest asylum camp in North America, located in Tijuana, Mexico. When we first arrived, we saw kids spending their days with little to do and no access to education. We saw a need and created a school because we knew education could provide consistency, dignity, hope.
Right alongside our primary and secondary school sat a preschool operated by one of our partner organizations. This quarter, they approached us about taking over operations and continuing to invest in some of the youngest kids in the camp. We said yes!
With plans to open this fall, we are now preparing classrooms, gathering supplies, and getting everything ready to welcome some of our youngest students. For children living in uncertainty after fleeing their homes in search of safety, continuity matters. Having a place where they can begin in preschool and continue all the way through high school, creates stability and a future they can build on for years to come.
