Some stories are marked by resilience, and our school in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is one of them.
Over the years, it has faced challenges that could have easily ended its story. Many of you may remember when a nearby volcano erupted and lava destroyed the school entirely. True to the heart of Love Does, we rebuilt. Together, we restored the classrooms and secured funding for a playground, believing that children deserve safe spaces filled with joy.
Last year brought yet another challenge. Ongoing conflict and uncertainty caused the school to temporarily close. When it reopened, it became more than a place for learning. It became a place of safety, peace, and stability, not just for students, but for the surrounding community. Our hope for this year is for this school to keep being a steady place of love and hope. Our next step is securing the perimeter so kids can learn and play safely. Once the wall is up, we get to do the really fun part – build the playground. It will be extra colorful, because kids don’t just need safe places, they need joyful ones.
If you would like to be part of this next chapter and help ensure the school remains a safe and hopeful place, learn more here.
Thank you for continuing to show up with us, again and again.
