This year, we’re taking a meaningful step forward in the Dominican Republic by leaning into social enterprise as a way to build long-term sustainability for the work we love.

Last month, we had the honor of hosting two teams with Love Does from Bella Goose Coffee and Talitha Coffee Roasters. Both were founded with a heart to create opportunity and restoration for survivors of trafficking and exploitation. As they shared their experience building businesses that do more than serve coffee, we were reminded that we carry that same responsibility and privilege at Love Does: to create pathways where dignity, purpose, and sustainability can grow side by side.

While on the ground, we spent time with the women who run our Love Does Café, listening, learning, and dreaming together. The insights from these teams are already helping shape how we strengthen the café, not just as a place of work, but as a space where confidence grows, skills develop, and futures begin to take shape. This is part of a new larger vision for Love Does: building social enterprises that help support and sustain the programs themselves over time.

At the same time, something new is quietly coming to life at our Women’s Resource Center. We’ve launched a sewing program, creating opportunities for women who choose to leave street life behind to receive professional training and begin crafting beautiful, high-quality goods that can be shared with the world. It’s early, but it’s full of promise.

This is sustainability with purpose: empowering women, building sustainable businesses, and creating lasting change from the ground up.
