This past weekend Love Does hosted a service weekend in Tijuana, Mexico with 12 remarkable and inspiring former foster youth. Tori Hope Peterson, speaker and best selling author of “Fostered” which recounts her experience growing up in the foster care system, led the program for the weekend titled “Rebuilding Home”.
We all worked together to build a house in just two short days, while also participating in workshops to discuss what rebuilding a home really means.
“Many youth and adults who have experienced foster care have not had a home at some point and some still don’t. The heart behind the program was to show each one of them that they could build the things they’ve never had. To prove to them that they aren’t the identities that have been spoken over them by the system, but rather show them that they can serve and love radically.” – Tori Hope Peterson
It was a beautiful time of self-reflection, cultivating friendships, and filling a practical need for a wonderful family.
Keep loving people well,
-The Love Does Team
